The Benefits of a Dry Erase Board

Posted by admin on

When we talk about boards in the classroom or office, we typically refer to whiteboards or blackboards. This isn’t unusual considering that they are the most common types of boards used within a professional or academic setting.

Now, there's another kind of whiteboard that's slowly becoming the norm in such settings. It's called the ‘dry erase whiteboard' or ‘dry erase board.'

So, why is this particular type of whiteboard gaining preference? Well, there are tons of reasons and we are going to look at a few of them.

Legible writing

You can use a marker of any color to write in these boards and it will still remain visible to the class or room. Typically, you might find that people use blue or black markers, but that doesn’t mean other colors don’t work well.

Thanks to the white background, everything becomes clear and visible. Needless to say, this is great for ensuring that people pay attention. Also, using multiple colors can allow you to create a hierarchy or point out the significance of a word, sentence, or illustration – sort of like color coding.

Versatility

Apart from the fact that you can use multiple colors to write on these boards, they’re also very versatile. A majority of dry erase boards come with metal backs, which means you can use magnets. In fact, a lot of school teachers already do this. They use magnets to put up notices and other important information.

This is super convenient because you don’t have to rely on separate boards, like cork boards or notice boards. Your dry erase board can play all those roles. In fact, you can even project movies on a dry-erase whiteboard. They possess a surface that's ideal for that.

Easy to use

Just like any other whiteboard, dry erase whiteboards are super-easy to use. For instance, let’s compare them to chalkboards or blackboards. These boards require to chalk for the purpose of writing. Now chalk is pretty messy and quite annoying at times.

However, on a dry erase board, you use markers. Markers are much neater and leave no residue. In other words, they aren’t messy like chalk.

When you wipe a blackboard, you're still left with some chalk residue that gets embedded into the surface of the blackboard. That doesn't happen with a dry erase board. Even if a marker does end up staining the board, you can still get rid of the stain by using an alcohol-based cleaning solution.

Chalkboards, on the other hand, have to be cleaned with water, which only damages the surface in the long run.

The perfect choice

So, as you can see, dry erase boards are a practical choice. They are versatile and definitely easier to use. You don’t have to deal with a mess and there are several things you can do with a dry erase board. They are also durable, which means you won’t have to change anything for a long time to come. In fact, they hardly show wear and tear even after years of usage.
